Inspiration

The kiddies are downstairs curled up on the couch with chocolate milk and waffles.  I've got oatmeal, coffee, and a cranky Michael to juggle as I type this post.  Some might call it multi-tasking; others might term it plain craziness.  Whatever your thoughts on the subject, I believe that motherhood in its very nature calls for two things: creativity and inspiration.  Even those who do not find themselves particularly creative can draw inspiration from others who are.  Yesterday I found inspiration in the most unexpected places.

1) The kids - Gabi found the Starbucks ornament box that I thought I had stashed away from tiny hands.  A box full of packing peanuts.  Before I realized her discovery, there were packing peanuts everywhere and two joyful children jumping in the mess.  Inspiration?  Let's have a "snowball" fight!  And we did, creating chaos, silliness, and some great pics.  Cleanup?  I gave the kiddies small buckets and told them they would get an extra sticker on their chore chart for every bucket they filled.  Mission accomplished!

2)  My blogging friends - I had been trying to figure out what to do with all of Gabi's crayons, colored pencils, markers, etc, that would keep them out of the way yet accessible for when we needed them.  My fellow blogger here shared some great ideas on a "craft bar" she made.  Genius!  I don't have any glass candy dishes or cookie jars for my art supplies,: so I set about searching the house for a suitable alternative.  Then I opened the garage door and saw them - several empty formula cans stacked on a shelf.  Inspiration?  I will cover these cans with fun scrapbook paper and label them.  They will look adorable standing on my kitchen bar!

3)  My leftover turkey - I have had it all, whether it's a simple turkey sandwich, turkey chili, turkey soup, turkey with rice, etc.  Yesterday all I had in the fridge was bits and pieces of the remaining turkey.  I set about putting some dishes away when my eyes fell upon my griddle and... Inspiration?  Turkey quesadillas!  I got out the Monterrey Jack cheese and some tortillas and made some fabulous quesadillas.

I'd be interested to see how some of you have been inspired by fellow bloggers or things around your house.  Leave me a comment with a link to your creative post so that all of us can share the inspiration!

  2. I love these pictures! Honestly, kids are the most fascinating beings. They can find fun in the most simple things, and you're a awesome mom to just go with it and make a memory with them. Though they're liable to look for more packing boxes in the future, lol.

I LOVE Turkey. I can never have too much. Or at least it hasn't happened yet. But quesidillas are a wonderful idea, and SO fast. Definitely going to make some up with the turkey I have left.

I have found inspiration from so many other bloggers. One of my favorites is the Organizing Blog listed on my blogroll. Also Amy at the Motherload. I really like the bigger sites that let people link up (like works for me Tuesday..at least I think it's Tuesday). I have found tons of great ideas through them.
